Job Summary
Directs accounting operations for the University of Chicago Press, supervising two accountants and an accounts payable clerk; oversees monthly revenue/expense postings, operating statements, and balance sheet activities across Books, Journals, and the Chicago Distribution Center. Responsible for bank accounts, external vendor postings, sales tax, A/R/A/P, cash handling, and monthly reconciliations; ensures accuracy across internal systems and ledgers and supports annual audit workpapers. Manages staff, sets performance goals, allocates resources, and advises on accounting policies and internal controls; collaborates with the CFO and Journals Division Financial Administrator. Requires strong spreadsheet and analytical skills, familiarity with Oracle, and the ability to work independently in a hybrid environment.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
- 7+ years of work experience in a related job discipline.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- CPA preferred.
