Director of Accounting

Job Summary
Own and continuously improve monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, including general ledger oversight, consolidations, and journal entries. Lead, develop, and mentor direct reports while maintaining internal accounting controls across subsidiary reporting, fixed assets, and inventory costing. Collaborate with operations, legal, IT, and external partners to interpret financial results, explain variances, and support business decisions. Resolve issues with departments and act as a technical resource for systems, processes, and procedures. Coordinate with outside auditors for financial statement audits and present disclosures. Build strategies for continuous process improvement in the monthly close, accounts payable, and ERP automation. Handle special projects, due diligence for acquisitions or sales, and various tasks based on VP, Tax Director, and executive needs.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS Degree in Accounting
- 6+ years of Accounting/Controller experience including managerial roles
- Strong communication skills
- Strong leadership abilities
- Ability to translate financial data into practical business insights
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting
- Strong knowledge of consolidations
- Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting
- Strong knowledge of internal controls and procedures
- Exceptional analytical abilities
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities
- Expertise in financial software and systems
- Well versed with accounting issues involving locations in multiple countries and states
- Ability to work and interact with departments throughout the organization
- Experience improving processes
- Experience strengthening controls
- Experience leading change within an accounting or finance function
- Ability to make timely decisions
- Sound and accurate judgment
- Proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Desired Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (preferred)
