Job Summary
Oversee the accounting function for Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center, Food & Beverage, Aquarium, and Amphitheater by managing day-to-day processes including sales receipts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger. Supervise staff to ensure accurate recording of manual journal entries, review bank and account reconciliations, and prepare flash revenue reports after every event day. Direct the month-end closing, analyze balance sheets and P&L trends, and manage budgeting and forecasting for operating, capital, and cash flow. Collaborate with outside auditors for annual audits and assist in designing internal controls to safeguard assets. Hire, train, and retain accounting staff while building relationships with business leaders. Requires 3-5 years of hospitality accounting experience, a BA/BS in Accounting, and flexibility for nights, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in the hospitality industry
- BA/BS in Accounting
- Extensive knowledge of accounting software, implementing procedures/financial systems and controls, as well as Excel, Word, and Powerpoint
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Must be highly analytical, can think creatively, and understand complex business dynamics
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a deadline-oriented environment
- Ability to work under pressure, irregular hours, maintain confidentiality, and meet deadlines
- Must be flexible to travel and work extended hours due to business requirements including nights, weekends and holidays
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of point of sale systems a plus
