Job Summary
Director of Academics leads and supports instructional staff to drive student achievement at Montgomery Preparatory Academy (a public charter K-8 within ACCEL Schools). Responsibilities include guiding teachers in curriculum implementation and differentiation, reviewing lesson plans, conducting observations and coaching, providing professional development, using data to inform instruction, supporting intervention programs, coordinating parent engagement and special projects, and maintaining connections with stakeholders. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in education and active teaching certification, with at least five years of classroom teaching experience and two years in instructional leadership roles; Master’s degree preferred. Knowledge of state and Common Core standards, data-collection methods, communication skills, and ability to manage confidential information are essential. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education
- Active professional teacher certification
- Minimum of five years’ experience as a successful teacher
- Two years’ experience as an Instructional Coach, Teacher Leader, or related position (strongly preferred)
- Track record of increasing student achievement on state measures
- Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards
- Experience using multiple sources of data collection (standardized tests, portfolios, observations, conferences, grades) to plan instruction
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Computer literacy and proficiency
- Successful completion of federal and state criminal background checks
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
- Understanding of confidential information
