Director - Nursing Inpatient - Surgical Services

Job Summary
Provide clinical and administrative leadership to assigned surgical inpatient departments to maintain patient care standards. Advise medical staff, department leaders, and administrators on nursing service strategies and interpret organizational policies for staff and community groups. Monitor nursing staff operations to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and participate in task forces and board meetings to support strategic initiatives. Develop trusting relationships with personnel and inter-professional departments while clarifying performance targets to drive process improvement. Lead, motivate, and evaluate nursing personnel, ensuring they obtain and maintain required department-specific certifications and competencies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in nursing
- Minimum of three years clinical experience
- Minimum of two years prior management/leadership experience
- Thorough knowledge of the nursing practice act and standards of nursing care
- Working knowledge of administrative and management techniques
- Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring
- Possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state
- Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications
Desired Qualifications
- Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA)
