The Director of North America Health and Safety will drive strategic health & safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulations and fostering a strong safety culture. Key responsibilities include implementing ISO management systems, leading health & safety programs, and developing training processes, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance safety performance across operations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, Engineering or related field
- 10+ years of leadership in the function, driving culture change in large organizations
- Thorough knowledge of Occupational Safety Management Systems (e.g., ISO 45001, OHSAS 18001)
- Experience in developing and assessing companies against management systems (e.g., ISO 14001)
- Strong interpersonal skills with track record of successful cross-functional collaboration
- Familiarity with Canadian, US, federal, and local safety regulations
Desired Qualifications
- Designation as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals
- Certified Safety & Health Manager (CSHM) by the Institute of Safety & Health Management
- Master Science in Health & Safety, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene
- Six Sigma methodology certification and practice
- ISO Management System internal auditor
