Job Summary
Director, Media Strategy leading day-to-day C-suite thought leadership programs for Highwire’s technology, healthcare, and related sectors; develops executive visibility strategies for cybersecurity, AI, cloud, data infrastructure, and high-stakes financial communications. Responsibilities include strategic counsel on messaging and media positioning, building evergreen thought leadership platforms, leading high-profile earnings and IPO media programs, maintaining strong journalist relationships, designing agency-wide training to elevate media relations, and mentoring 2–3 direct reports while collaborating with practice leads to close growth opportunities. Requires senior-level expertise in both B2B and B2C technology and healthcare media landscapes, with a track record of securing placements in top-tier business and health media, and the ability to deliver measurable business results across earned and owned channels; hybrid/remote work possible with location flexibility in multiple US states.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of media relations experience with at least 4 years within a PR agency (as stated in Success Factors)
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing C-suite thought leadership programs for major technology, financial and/or healthcare companies
- Direct experience with financial communications — including earnings media programs, IPO communications, or related high-stakes corporate milestones
- Strong knowledge of B2B and B2C technology and healthcare media landscapes
- Established relationships with reporters, editors, and producers at leading national print/digital and broadcast media
- Ability to develop and deliver training/workshops/internal capability-building programs
- Senior client management experience and ability to mentor teams
- Experience managing and developing high-performing teams in a fast-paced environment
