Director, Manufacturing Finance

Job Summary
Partner with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Operations leadership to drive financial performance, cost excellence, and operational scalability across a global life science tools organization. Provide actionable insights to optimize production efficiency, capacity utilization, and cost structure while supporting decision-making on product mix, sourcing strategies, and make vs. buy analyses. Oversee standard costing processes, develop variance analysis on key drivers, and drive inventory optimization including turns and obsolescence. Partner with operations to evaluate capital expenditures, develop business cases, and ensure alignment of capital allocation with strategic growth priorities. Support ERP implementation, strengthen internal controls, and ensure audit readiness with SOX and regulatory compliance. Lead sustainability reporting for Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. Operate within a regulated, global manufacturing environment with a 4-day onsite schedule in Waltham, MA, reporting to executive leadership.
Required Qualifications
- 10 to 15+ years of progressive finance experience
- significant exposure to manufacturing environments
- Demonstrated expertise in cost accounting, standard costing, and inventory management
- Deep understanding of manufacturing finance, including variances, absorption costing, and operational KPIs
- Experience supporting multi-site, global manufacturing operations
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills
- experience with artificial intelligence enabled tools
- Strong business partner with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders
- Proven ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels
- Excellent communication skills with experience presenting to executive leadership
- Results-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement and accountability
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- MBA and/or CPA
- The ability to walk across large, multi-building manufacturing campuses
- The ability to stand for extended periods during facility tours or physical inventory counts
- The agility to navigate production lines, climb stairs or catwalks, and step over equipment or cables safely
- Normal visual acuity (with or without correction) to review production processes and read gauges/equipment readouts
- The ability to lift up to 30 pounds
- The ability to communicate in noisy factory environments
- The ability to properly hear safety alarms or verbal instructions
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP S/4HANA)
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience in life sciences, medical devices, biotech, or highly regulated industries
- ERP (e.g., SAP S/4HANA) implementation and optimization, particularly in manufacturing and cost accounting modules
- Sustainability Reporting: Lead the reporting Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions
- Partner with the sustainability team on our transition plan for reduction of Scope 1 and 2 emissions
