Job Summary
Director, Licensing leads strategic regulatory licensing efforts for BWXT Advanced Technologies. Responsible for shaping the licensing strategy, overseeing licensing activities, and guiding regulatory deliverables and engagements with regulators, customers, and partners. Provides executive leadership across cross-functional teams to address technical, safety, and regulatory challenges, drives licensing strategy, serves as the owner of licensing bases for reactor technologies, collaborates with engineering to integrate regulatory requirements, supports testing programs, leads high-level regulatory discussions, and coordinates budgets and schedules to achieve regulatory outcomes. The role requires extensive nuclear licensing experience within U.S. frameworks, strong stakeholder relationships, and the ability to communicate effectively across senior audiences.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in an engineering or physics discipline is required (i.e. nuclear, mechanical, civil, environmental engineering, or a related field).
- At least twenty (20) years in management or a supervisory role is required.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in nuclear licensing and regulatory matters within a U.S. framework (NRC or DOE) is required.
- Must have demonstrated experience leading the design, evaluation, and technological development of nuclear systems, with a proven ability to guide complex technical programs at an organizational level.
- Must demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, accurately, and timely in both written and verbal formats.
- Must have a proven track record of building and sustaining effective relationships with high level internal and external stakeholders, fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and organizations.
- Must have exceptional interpersonal skills necessary to manage simultaneous licensing activities across various stakeholders.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and/or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance.
