Job Summary
Partner with product teams across conception, design, MVP definition, roadmap, commercial release, support, and end-of-life to ensure legal compliance and drive pragmatic advice on open source, privacy, intellectual property, and data security. Draft and structure product-specific terms, SDK licenses, API agreements, and policies while assisting with revenue recognition, COGS, and financial modeling. Identify interdependencies to align stakeholders and balance business enablement with risk management. Develop legal frameworks for product deprecation, maintain bills of materials, and drive consistency in terms flowing from licensors to customers. Establish response plans for epidemic failures and product recalls. Assist the privacy and IP groups in evaluating data usage opportunities and identifying patent gaps. Work within a global enterprise requiring flexibility in hours and the ability to travel domestically and internationally.
Required Qualifications
- JD and membership in good standing of at least one state bar in the US
- 12-15 or more years of legal experience in a major law firm or in-house legal department supporting product-related legal issues and technology transactions/licenses
- Flexibility in working hours in a global enterprise
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
