Job Summary
Direct the legal function for AmaWaterways, serving as senior legal counsel across all functions. Lead corporate governance, commercial contracting (vendor, partnership, distribution, charter, technology, sponsorship, and customer-facing agreements), and internal policy governance. Collaborate with People & Talent on employment matters and global employment compliance; support regulatory compliance, including maritime operations and data privacy; review marketing materials and customer communications for regulatory risk; oversee disputes and outside counsel; advise on intellectual property and brand protection; support M&A due diligence and integration; manage insurance, enterprise risk, and legal spend; provide strategic legal guidance to executive leadership and board materials; supervise legal staff and external counsel as assigned. Ideal candidates will bring JD, bar admission, 8–12 years of experience, and a track record in commercial contracting, regulatory compliance, and policy governance within multi-state or global, private equity–backed environments.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active member in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar; California bar admission preferred
- Minimum 8–12 years of legal experience
- Experience supporting commercial contracting, employment matters, regulatory compliance, and internal policy governance in a multi-state or global organization
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills across a broad range of agreements and corporate policies
- Experience working in private equity–backed or high-growth environments preferred
- Ability to balance legal risk with commercial objectives
- Strong business acumen and executive presence
- Experience managing litigation and outside counsel relationships
