Director, Lab Systems Engineering

Lead a global Lab Engineering Support organization responsible for the architecture, delivery, security, and support of enterprise laboratory technology platforms (IT and OT) across Vertex labs and manufacturing; partner with senior business, quality, and DTE leaders to ensure compliant, scalable lab operations and drive innovation (IoT-enabled lab environments, intelligent automation, passive data capture). Own a ~ $10M operating budget, manage vendor ecosystems, and oversee programs to deliver high-quality, timely platform releases. Build and retain high-performing teams, translate technical issues into clear executive-level recommendations, and balance operational stability with innovation in regulated environments. Foster cross-functional collaboration to advance lab capabilities while maintaining cyber security, ITSM/ITIL practices, and regulatory compliance; leadership responsibilities include performance management and financial stewardship of assigned staff. Flexibility to work hybrid (up to two days remote) or on-site per Vertex policy.
