Job Summary
Assess proposed flying schedules for operational feasibility and lead local management teams accountable for ramp, airport, and cargo operations in Iqaluit. Partner with the Director Passenger & Cargo Sales to engage key customers daily at the airport, resolving issues while modeling high standards of service. Ensure daily operational effectiveness by championing process improvements, establishing KPIs, and driving corrective actions to enhance reliability and safety. Provide decisive leadership during live operations by evaluating real-time conditions and performance data to protect safety commitments. Manage operating budgets and control costs while balancing financial performance with service delivery. Report directly to the VP Airport & Cargo Operations and work within a matrixed environment supporting 25 northern communities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Aviation, Business, Operations Management, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and extensive progressive leadership experience in complex operational environments
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in operations leadership, preferably within aviation, cargo, or remote service environments, with demonstrated accountability for operational performance, people leadership, and decision-making in live operations
- Nunavut Resident with strong community and business relationships
Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting unionized environments and working with collective agreements is an asset
- Experience with Inuit recruitment, Indigenous engagement, or community-based recruitment is a strong asset
