Job Summary
Provide scientific assessment for evaluation and implementation of relevant, state-of-the-art clinical cytogenetic, molecular genetic, and genomic services, including interpretative analysis of laboratory results and recommendations for consultative services. Review cytogenetics and molecular genetic/genomic testing results by board certification, issue written interpretative test reports, and oversee clinical and scientific consultation. Supervise conduct, evaluation, reporting, and interpretation of testing while coordinating internal laboratory quality control programs, proficiency testing, and instrument maintenance to ensure regulatory compliance. Establish, implement, and evaluate teaching, educational, and research programs, including oversight of the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics Laboratory Fellowship. Develop and implement new assay development and clinical, research, and teaching activities for the facility.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in biomedical science
- minimum of a two-year post-doctoral training program
- Board-certified by appropriate certifying agency (i.e. American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics) in Clinical Cytogenetics and/or Clinical Molecular Genetics, or Laboratory Genetics and Genomics
- Must meet educational and either board-certified or board-eligible (with the expectation that boards are passed within 2 cycles)
- Knowledge of laboratory medicine practices
