Job Summary
Partner with the Vice President to shape the portfolio's strategic direction by tracking federal, state, and local energy and permitting policies, assessing implementation, and conducting research to identify grantees. Identify and develop charitable investment and grant recommendations for the Board of Directors, overseeing intake and review while reflecting on prior investments to inform future strategy. Identify and build mechanisms for connecting practitioners and policymakers across state and local agencies in the energy permitting and land use space. Develop and manage relationships with new and existing grantees, key stakeholders, consultants, and experts to deepen the grantee pipeline and build networks. Travel to and speak at conferences to represent AV's commitment, network with experts, and learn about new research and policy in priority areas. Collaborate with Advocacy and Communications teams to drive advocacy and issue campaigns. This role reports to the Vice President, Infrastructure, Energy & Permitting, is based in Washington, DC, and requires a Master's degree and seven years of relevant experience.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in public policy, engineering, law, environmental science, or another relevant field
- 7 years of relevant work experience, preferably including experience with energy development or land use regulation
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience
- Demonstrated understanding of electricity markets, land use regulations, permitting and environmental policy, and project development in the United States
- Strong policy analysis and research skills
- Strong leadership and relationship-building skills
- Exceptional strategy development, project management, and organizational skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate key takeaways to diverse, non-technical audiences
