Job Summary
Lead and coordinate health, safety, and environmental compliance programs across assigned manufacturing operations to reduce occupational and environmental risk. Enforce HSE policies, conduct safety walkthroughs, audits, and job hazard analyses, and investigate incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions. Ensure adherence to OSHA, EPA, state, and corporate requirements while serving as the primary contact for regulatory inspections and external audits. Develop and deliver HSE training, assess team needs, and drive safe behaviors using metrics and performance measures. Lead behavior-based safety activities, safety committees, and continuous improvement efforts to align initiatives with business objectives. Manage environmental compliance, pollution prevention, and waste reduction strategies while maintaining all required records and performance dashboards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health, Safety & Environmental, or Business, Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline
- Advanced degree
- Minimum of five years of progressively responsible general industrial safety experience
- Heavy manufacturing experience
- Professional knowledge of HSE principles, regulatory compliance, industrial safety methods, environmental protection programs, root-cause analysis, risk reduction, ergonomics, and pollution-prevention practices
- Experience working with regulatory agencies, consultants, external personnel, and vendors
- OSHA and EPA knowledge
- Ability to influence leaders and employees, gain cooperation, manage planned and unplanned priorities, and lead teams or cross-functional resources with urgency and accuracy
- Excellent written, verbal, computer, presentation, and reporting skills
- Ability to prepare concise reports and presentations using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel
- Skilled in AI applications
- English / Spanish bi-lingual
- Certified Safety Professional, Registered Environmental Manager, or comparable HSE credentials
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced degree preferred where appropriate to role level
- Heavy manufacturing experience is strongly preferred
