Job Summary
Oversee health and safety across all Atlantic Group plants in Ontario, Quebec, and the United States by developing a unified vision, implementing corporate policies, and managing multi-jurisdictional compliance with Ontario's OHSA, Quebec's CNESST, and US OSHA standards. Conduct macro-level risk assessments, perform physical audits, and lead incident investigations to drive root cause analysis and corrective actions. Represent the organization on industry advisory committees and manage legal proceedings while leading a high-performing team of professionals. Analyze safety data to compile executive reports and ensure continuous improvement through gap analysis and training programs. Based at the Scarborough head office, this role requires 10+ years of experience in unionized manufacturing, bilingualism, and hands-on floor presence.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 10+ years leading health and safety specifically within a unionized manufacturing setting
- Bachelor's degree in OHS, Engineering, Kinesiology, HR, or Business (or an alternate Bachelor's degree + a post-graduate OHS diploma)
- Must hold a recognized designation (CRSP/CSP highly preferred; COHN, CCPE, or CIH accepted)
- Must possess a valid driver's license and independent transportation for local travel
- Strong desire to be hands-on and 'on the floor' rather than strictly behind a desk
- Bilingualism (French/English) is highly preferred to manage the Quebec portfolio effectively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and working knowledge of specialized safety management software
- Candidates who are 18 years or older are required to complete a criminal and background check
