Job Summary

Lead the Group Accounting Policy function by providing senior guidance on complex accounting matters, significant transactions, and IFRS interpretation across the organization. Assess accounting implications for major strategic initiatives like acquisitions, including purchase price allocation, and prepare robust technical position papers for audit review. Own the annual goodwill and intangible assets impairment testing process and monitor new IFRS requirements to ensure compliant implementation. Act as the primary contact with external auditors on technical matters while building and leading a high-performing technical accounting team. This role offers a hybrid schedule in Montreal with a salary range of $149,600 - $182,800 and includes an annual bonus target of up to double the base.

Required Qualifications

  • Professional designation (CPA or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in large, complex and/or multinational environments, including accounting, advisory services, audit, or equivalent business experience, with demonstrated people leadership experience
  • Deep technical knowledge of IFRS and demonstrated ability to apply accounting standards to complex business transactions
  • Track record of leading or supporting the adoption and implementation of new or amended IFRS standards
  • Experience in the insurance and financial services industry
  • Bilingualism (French / English)
