Job Summary
Directs the Association’s statewide advocacy strategy and develops partnerships with Illinois General Assembly members, school board members, and administrators; serves as liaison to the Illinois State Board of Education; supports the Resolutions Committee; communicates member positions and potential solutions to lawmakers at state and federal levels; promotes school board engagement in the legislative process and provides essential information on proposed legislation and its impact on local school boards; requires a degree in Political Science or related field and experience in lobbying, with a hybrid work arrangement and responsibilities spanning policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, and staff support.
Required Qualifications
- graduate or undergraduate degree in Political Science, Communications, or related field
- broad understanding of the legislative process in Illinois and the United States Congress
- previous experience in lobbying, legislative staff, or related political involvement (preferred)
- valid Illinois driver's license and a vehicle
