Job Summary
Director, Government & Advocacy role focusing on driving PA’s policy advocacy and partnerships to strengthen the philanthropy ecosystem in Australia. Responsibilities include supporting the EDPSD to develop policy advocacy agendas, drafting submissions to government processes, engaging with ministers and regulators, establishing a Policy and Government Relations Peer Network, managing professional adviser engagement, shaping research projects, preparing member information on policy matters, responding to member enquiries, developing guides and resources for members, supporting public engagement and events, and contributing to organisational leadership and reporting. Requires tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, deep knowledge of philanthropy/not-for-profit policy environments, experience in government policy development, regulatory frameworks, and strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
Required Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in law, economics, public policy, social impact, political science or another relevant field.
- Experience in the philanthropic, not-for-profit or public sectors, with an understanding of the contextual environment for philanthropy and the not-for-profit sector.
- Strong grasp of government policy development processes, including developing and communicating policy positions clearly and effectively based on evidence.
- Understanding of regulatory frameworks, with demonstrated ability to develop working knowledge of their application in a specific sectoral context.
- Solid record of project management and delivery within complex organisational and stakeholder settings.
