Job Summary
Director, Global Markets Institutional Structuring Group at CIBC, leads credit underwriting and due diligence for commodities counterparties; evaluates credit worthiness via financial statement analysis, credit analysis, and risk ratings; manages credit exposure and risk through ongoing monitoring, with a focus on identifying risks and proposing mitigations. Operates within a fast-paced trading floor environment to support a production-focused sales team. Role can be hired at Associate level. Responsibilities include relationship-building with marketers and traders, portfolio management of credit quality, client engagements, development and implementation of credit policy and risk management standards, and coordination with legal, sales/trading, and Risk for client documentation.
Required Qualifications
- 5 to 8 years related experience
- 3 to 5 years at Associate level (if applicable)
- MBA, CFA or other relevant professional designation preferred
- knowledge of credit risk of Capital Markets products
- experience in precious metals, base metals, power and energy is an asset
- strong verbal and written communication skills
- strong analytical, technical and computational skills
- strong knowledge of financial statements analysis
- ability to work independently and as part of a team
- ability to liaison with clients, legal, sales/trading, and Risk
- commitment to client satisfaction
