Job Summary

Director, Global Markets Institutional Structuring Group at CIBC, leads credit underwriting and due diligence for commodities counterparties; evaluates credit worthiness via financial statement analysis, credit analysis, and risk ratings; manages credit exposure and risk through ongoing monitoring, with a focus on identifying risks and proposing mitigations. Operates within a fast-paced trading floor environment to support a production-focused sales team. Role can be hired at Associate level. Responsibilities include relationship-building with marketers and traders, portfolio management of credit quality, client engagements, development and implementation of credit policy and risk management standards, and coordination with legal, sales/trading, and Risk for client documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • 5 to 8 years related experience
  • 3 to 5 years at Associate level (if applicable)
  • MBA, CFA or other relevant professional designation preferred
  • knowledge of credit risk of Capital Markets products
  • experience in precious metals, base metals, power and energy is an asset
  • strong verbal and written communication skills
  • strong analytical, technical and computational skills
  • strong knowledge of financial statements analysis
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • ability to liaison with clients, legal, sales/trading, and Risk
  • commitment to client satisfaction
