Job Summary
Director for Student Leadership and Engagement responsible for designing, administering, and evaluating comprehensive programs and services to foster a vibrant, diverse, inclusive, and equitable student life experience. Leads data-driven policy and strategic planning aligned with accreditation standards, oversees the Student Activity Center operations, and coordinates major institutional milestones such as Freshman Orientation Week and Homecoming/Founders’ Week. Manages advising for student organizations (SGA, Royal Court, Greek Life), ensures compliance with policies and risk management, supports campus partnerships, and guides co-curricular programming, inclusion initiatives, and campus safety. Requires a flexible schedule to accommodate evening and weekend obligations and involves supervising staff, recruiting student workers, and directing major events with a focus on student retention, persistence, and belonging.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree required from an accredited institution in Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel, Counseling, or a closely related field
- 3–5 years of progressive professional experience in student activities, large-scale event execution, leadership development, or Greek life, preferably within an HBCU environment
- Strong understanding of student development theory, crisis management, Title IX compliance, and student conduct frameworks
- Proven project management skills for large campus events and excellent intercultural communication skills
