Job Summary

Lead and provide direct career coaching for College of Natural Sciences students, focusing on personalized exploration, internship preparation, and post-graduation success. Manage the delivery of coaching services, including appointments, workshops, and programming, while overseeing budget operations and team development. Develop faculty training and resources to enhance student career readiness, collaborate with academic departments and the Employer & Alumni Engagement team to align professional development with course objectives, and represent the office at regional and national conferences. Lead direct coaching efforts, support staff communications on academic-skill alignment, and investigate industry trends to equip students with informed career decisions. Guide coaches in teaching career courses and developing domain-specific resources for Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Math, and Human Sciences. Work with data analysts to track program success using student surveys and internship feedback, reporting on key metrics like internship placement and career readiness to refine future strategies.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • at least four years of experience in career coaching, career services, or student affairs
  • strong background in guiding students in professional development and career preparation
  • Strong familiarity with internship programs, job search strategies, and employer expectations in specific scientific/technical fields
  • Proficiency in career coaching tools, platforms and online resources for students
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with employers, alumni, faculty, and staff
  • Strong leadership, team management, and collaboration skills, with a focus on coaching and developing staff
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across different departments and functions
  • Knowledge of current trends in career development, labor markets, and emerging career paths in specialized domains
  • Must be eligible to work in the US on a full-time basis for any employer without sponsorship
  • A criminal history background check will be required for finalist(s) under consideration for this position
  • If hired, you will be required to complete the federal Employment Eligibility Verification I-9 form
  • You will be required to present acceptable and original documents to prove your identity and authorization to work in the United States
  • Documents need to be presented no later than the third day of employment

Desired Qualifications

  • Specialized knowledge and experience within one of the CNS domains (Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Computing, Math & Data Sciences, or Human Sciences)
  • Proficiency with 12twenty, Handshake or other career management and recruiting platform that connects universities, students, and employers
  • Some knowledge of Life Design principles
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of CNS policies, procedures, and majors, or experience working at The University of Texas at Austin working with student populations
