Job Summary
Director, Fleet Operations responsible for leading and developing a team of field-based managers across North America to operate and maintain the company-owned fleet of contract service equipment. Oversees safety culture, operational excellence, and financial performance (planning, budgeting, and P&L). Provides leadership to ensure 24/7/365 operation of multiple product lines, manages cross-functional relationships, and drives continuous improvement and compliance with OSHA, DOT, FRA. Requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and the ability to develop future leaders; travel 40% or more; pre-employment assessments and background checks are required; valid driver’s license and relevant railroad certifications required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 10+ years of operations experience leading remote 24/7/365 teams that are highly distributed, operating large equipment
- 10+ years with direct financial performance accountability
- 10+ years demonstrated team building leadership skills
- 10+ years experience in strategy development and change management
- 5+ years knowledge of OSHA, DOT, FRA compliance regulations
- All Railroad Specific Certifications to operate on track
- Loram Operating Rules Certification
- All Loram Required E-Learning, On the Job, and 3rd Party Safety Training
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
- A Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check will be conducted upon hire and annually thereafter in accordance with Loram’s Driving Policy
- Successfully pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
- Verification of post-secondary education
- Verification of current and prior relevant employment experience
