Job Summary
Director of Finance at NWSL Atlanta will lead the accounting function and FP&A, overseeing annual budgeting, monthly financial statements and KPIs, financial modeling, scenario analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to support the club’s 2028 launch. Responsibilities include managing general ledger, month-end close, audit, cash flow, treasury, tax compliance, and liaison work with the league; lead a high-performing finance team and partner with senior leadership to improve financial processes and reporting. Based onsite at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA, with a move to Marietta, GA in 2028, the role emphasizes providing accurate, timely financial insights and ensuring GAAP compliance for a dynamic sports-organization context.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including 3-5 years of experience at the manager level
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements
- Experience with a professional sports league or club (NWSL a plus)
- Proven experience overseeing general ledger, audit, and financial close processes
- Knowledge of financial and accounting software and systems; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong leadership experience with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams
- Excellent communication and business partnering skills, including the ability to work effectively with senior leaders and cross-functional teams
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities, with a strategic and entrepreneurial mindset
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and maintain confidentiality
- Preferred CPA designation
- Experience with Great Plains and Vena Solutions
