Job Summary
Director, Finance responsible for directing all financial and accounting operations for CMHA-York Region, including budgeting, financial analysis, internal controls, statutory compliance, and external reporting. Lead preparation of annual budgets, variances, and forecasts; oversee payroll, accounts payable/receivable, cash management, and financial systems; coordinate annual audit and liaise with Board Audit Committee and external auditors; ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable charity legislation; manage asset capitalization, reporting, and grant/funder accounting for projects; supervise finance staff and collaborate with leadership on funding applications and strategic financial planning. Requires strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills, knowledge of provincial acts impacting charities, and experience in a management-level financial role (preferably in public healthcare).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Commerce, or Business Management/Administration
- Professional designation (e.g., Chartered Professional Accountant) or equivalent
- Minimum five years of experience in a financial management position at a management level
- Knowledge of GAAP and provincial/federal charity-related legislation
- Experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and audit coordination
- Experience in payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and financial systems
- Healthcare sector experience is considered an asset
