Job Summary
Develop and execute public policy strategies and lobbying efforts to support data center development, construction, and operations while ensuring power access. Track, analyze, and report on emerging federal legislation impacting data center development, construction, operations, and power procurement. Build working relationships with key lawmakers, policymakers, regulators, and staff to represent the company before federal agencies, ISOs, and RTOs. Represent the company in relevant industry coalitions and trade associations to advocate for data center interests. Prepare policy briefs, white papers, testimony, and talking points to educate policymakers on the role of data centers and AI infrastructure. Work with Real Estate, Site Selection, Energy Procurement, Engineering, and other internal teams to align business needs with operational objectives. Ensure lobbying activities comply with applicable laws and file necessary disclosure reports. Manage outside counsel and consultants to execute policy and legislative actions.
Required Qualifications
- 5-7+ years of experience in government relations, or prior service in state/federal legislative or regulatory bodies, with a specific focus on energy and power policy
- Strong understanding of utility regulation, electricity markets, grid infrastructure, and interconnection processes
- Some familiarity with federal level energy regulations
- Proven ability to translate complex technical issues into clear policy language for non-technical stakeholders
- Law Degree or Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Energy Economics, Engineering, or a related field
- Strong analytical capabilities
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Ability to work collaboratively in a matrixed environment
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience as a registered federal or state lobbyist
- Experience engaging directly with federal energy agencies, RTO/ISO entities
- Working knowledge of AI Infrastructure
