Job Summary
Director, Facilities & Maintenance leads strategic planning, operation, and continuous improvement of facility and maintenance functions across the organization. This role oversees facility infrastructure, building systems, utilities, maintenance operations, capital improvement projects, contractor management, and regulatory compliance to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Key responsibilities include developing and executing facility and maintenance strategies aligned with organizational goals, establishing departmental objectives, policies, procedures, and performance metrics, leading continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability and cost optimization, developing long-range facility plans, partnering with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Safety, and Quality leadership, directing all facility operations, overseeing maintenance and repair for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire protection, and life safety systems, ensuring safety and compliance, managing renovations and infrastructure projects, overseeing waste management and vendor activities, leading preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs, establishing asset management strategies, monitoring KPIs, driving root cause analysis, leading capital projects from planning to implementation, developing scopes, budgets, timelines, and resource requirements, selecting and managing contractors and service providers, negotiating contracts, ensuring adherence to safety and codes, managing operating and capital budgets, and maintaining documentation and records; the role also emphasizes leadership and mentorship of maintenance, facilities, and technical staff and fostering a culture of accountability, safety, customer service, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Construction Management, Industrial Technology, Business Administration, or related field required
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive facilities and maintenance leadership experience
- Minimum of 5 years of people leadership experience managing managers, supervisors, or technical teams
- Experience supporting manufacturing, distribution, or industrial operations preferred
- Experience managing capital projects, contractor relationships, and facility budgets
- Demonstrated success implementing preventive maintenance and asset reliability programs
- Strong knowledge of facility infrastructure systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and building automation systems
- Travel: Up to 20%
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Construction Management, Industrial Technology, Business Administration, or related field required
- Knowledge of maintenance management systems (CMMS) and asset management principles
- Understanding of OSHA, environmental regulations, building codes, and life safety requirements
- Strong project management and contractor management capabilities
- Financial acumen with experience managing operating and capital budgets
