Job Summary
Oversee preventative maintenance, repairs, and daily operations for buildings, equipment, grounds, and venue infrastructure, ensuring core systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire suppression remain safe and fully operational. Manage budgets, supervise staff and external contractors, and develop preventative maintenance programs for front-of-house and back-of-house spaces supporting public use, performances, and educational programs. Hire, train, and evaluate facilities personnel while negotiating contracts with vendors and coordinating with unionized stagehands. Collaborate with marketing, sales, and production teams to meet technical needs for live events, ensuring backstage areas and event-critical spaces are properly maintained. Remain available for emergency response and provide facilities staffing for evening, weekend, and holiday activities dictated by the performance schedule. Ensure compliance with OSHA, ADA, and building codes while supporting capital projects and strategic facility initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Five to ten or more years of facilities management experience
- At least three to four years of leadership or supervisory experience
- Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, maintenance processes, safety standards, and code compliance
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation
- Experience with work order systems, building automation systems, spreadsheets, budgetary tools, and facilities maintenance software aligned with organizational technology standards
- Routine for office environment
- Required to perform the essential functions of the job during evening and weekend concerts and/or events
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field
- Extensive relevant experience in lieu of a degree
- Performing arts venue operations experience
- Professional certifications such as Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or Facility Management Professional (FMP) from IFMA
