Job Summary
Manage all county, road, bridge, and infrastructure projects as directed by the Managing Director or Board of Commissioners. Lead the engineering department, including design, construction, subdivision improvement, right of way, and programming divisions, while enforcing board policies, departmental procedures, and safety standards. Develop and manage the annual departmental budget and Road Improvement Program funding by scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and preparing financial plans. Meet with elected officials, community leaders, and advisory groups to address concerns related to road projects and maintain labor relations for the department. Respond to road and project emergencies when required and participate in relevant committees to stay abreast of new techniques.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree with a major in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
- Minimum of 10 years of full-time experience / working knowledge in Civil Engineering
- A Michigan Professional Engineer's License
- Valid Michigan Driver's License
- eligible to work in the U.S.
- Ability to travel within the county to complete field/site visits
- Participation in relevant road infrastructure/traffic safety related/state/national committees
