Job Summary
Lead a team of front-end and backend engineers delivering a net-new product from concept through GA, owning delivery against timeline, scope, and quality bars. Drive the technical roadmap for identity and access management, including SSO, multi-org membership, and account linking, while overseeing third-party payment and commissions integrations end to end. Embed AI-assisted tooling and practices across the SDLC, triage production issues with Support and DevOps, and enforce the team's UAT and release process. Own the security posture by driving down dependency and vulnerability alerts against SLA. Report roadmap, risk, and delivery status to leadership. This hands-on engineering leadership role sits within a venture-backed insurtech company building API infrastructure for insurance carriers and agencies.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience managing backend or platform engineering teams
- ideally within B2B SaaS, insurtech, regtech, or another compliance-heavy domain
- Hands-on experience integrating AI-assisted development tools and practices into an engineering team's workflow
- A demonstrated appetite for ambiguity and change
- the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing delivery excellence
- A bias toward shipping, learning, and iterating quickly
- close partnership with Product, Professional Services, Sales, and Support
- Direct experience with identity and access management
- SSO/OIDC
- multi-tenant auth

- Comfort owning systems that touch regulatory compliance, licensing, or financial data

- A track record of shipping through a real UAT/release process
- running a disciplined vulnerability remediation program

- Hands-on technical background in Go and/or Java backend services
