Job Summary
Director, Engineering role at Smithfield Foods leading engineering operations across plants; responsibilities include engineering leadership across disciplines, collaboration with cross-functional teams (Operations, HR, Safety, etc.), managing Capital and Maintenance budgets and project planning, developing and executing strategic plans to improve operational performance, identifying ways to boost efficiency and reduce waste, ensuring facilities comply with internal and external standards, optimizing asset utilization and asset longevity, leading and developing engineering teams, and traveling to other locations (approximately 50%). The role requires strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills, with experience in conveying technical concepts to non-technical audiences and fostering a collaborative, safe, and high-performing work environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Engineering, Business or related field, and 10+ years of relevant experience in Engineering management; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
- 5+ years of experience in a position of leadership to include team development and management, required.
- Prior experience in an engineer role required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and SAP.
