Job Summary
Director, Employee Relations, Job Evaluation and Return to Work responsibilities include leading and directing employee/employer relations programs across the GN, developing legislation, policies and programs aligned with Inuit Societal Values, overseeing collective bargaining activities and negotiations as chief negotiator, guiding conflict resolution and mediation in the workplace, advising senior officials on complex employee/employer issues, delivering training on employee/employer relations, researching and overseeing return-to-work programs, directing and evaluating the GN’s job evaluation system, developing the compensation philosophy and total compensation package, and managing financial and personnel resources to achieve mandate goals. The role requires strong verbal and written communication, cross-cultural leadership, analytical reasoning, program development and implementation, and the ability to lead in a cross-cultural environment.
Required Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree from a recognized Canadian university in labour law, industrial relations, business administration or related field
- Seven years of progressive managerial experience in a related human resource field
- Experience in collective bargaining and administration of collective agreements, policies and legislation
