Job Summary

Director II, EHS to promote a positive safety culture and ensure compliance with SGWS EHS standards across distribution operations. Responsibilities include conducting training, coaching associates, performing audits, risk assessments (Job Hazard Analysis), and implementing proactive safety programs; making OSHA recordability determinations; participating in Workers’ Compensation and incident investigations; facilitating the Division Safety Committee; performing facility safety observations and inspections; coordinating with Facilities and Operations on engineering controls and new technology safeguards; ensuring DOT and environmental regulatory compliance; visiting job sites and driving continuous improvement in safety performance; and providing EHS data analysis and trend reporting to leadership. Required qualifications include a BS/BA in Safety or related field (or equivalent experience), recognized EHS credentials or willingness to obtain within 3 years, OSHA/EPA regulatory knowledge, incident investigation and training experience, PIT Train-the-Trainer certification within 1 year, First Aid/CPR/AED training within 1 year, experience in food & beverage or distribution environments, and strong Workers’ Compensation knowledge; proficiency with MS Office and EHS data systems such as Intelex, Gensuite, Eneblon, etc., with the aim of maintaining an injury-free culture and regulatory compliance across the division.

Required Qualifications

  • BS/BA in Safety, Health, or related science or a combination of education and experience in the EHS field equivalent to Associates Degree and/or 8-10 years’ relevant experience
  • Hold the CSP, ASP, CIH, CHMM, OHST, CHST, CSHM, or other recognized EHS credentials, or willing to secure within 3 years of hire date
  • Working knowledge of OSHA /EPA regulations and have background in both incident investigation and EHS training
  • Working knowledge of Emergency Response and Risk Mitigation to provide support for emergency preparedness, response, and business continuity planning efforts
  • Ability to interpret and be the main point of contact for OSHA and other federal regulation related responsibilities
  • Working knowledge of warehouse equipment operation, including obtaining Power Industrial Equipment (PIT) Train-the-Trainer certification within 1 year of hire, if not already credentialed
  • First Aid, CPR & AED trained, or ability to complete within 1 year of hire date
  • Previous experience in food & beverage, distribution operations or another fast-paced environment preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of Worker’s Compensation practices and reporting
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products and various other EHS data management systems (Intelex, Gensuite, Eneblon, etc.)
