Job Summary

Director, Ecosystem Services Markets to lead thought leadership on ecosystem services measurement and financing for reforestation and forest health. Responsible for managing external consultant projects (water benefits accounting, measurement tools, and market assessments), researching trends in ecosystem services markets, developing financial models and data visualization tools, and communicating findings to internal teams and external partners. Reports to the Senior Director for Restoration Finance Innovation within the Resilient Forests team. This is a full-time, salaried exempt position based in the United States with a 1-year term and a salary range of $80,000–$100,000. Remote work within the U.S. with up to 10% travel is required. Requires seven years of project-management experience in hydrology/civil/environmental resources or ecological restoration, plus degree in a related field (undergraduate required; master’s preferred). Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Hydrology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resources, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • Masters degree in Hydrology, Civil Engineering, or Environmental Engineering strongly preferred
  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in project management related to hydrology, civil engineering, forestry, natural resources, or ecological restoration with proven results
  • Experience with water benefit accounting and corporate water stewardship
  • Experience with creating and editing financial models in Excel
  • Experience in a consulting firm or other project-based, professional services-oriented role
  • Experience and comfort using software platforms and technical tools for project tracking and data management (Airtable, ArcGIS, Excel, etc.)
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Systems thinking approach to problem solving
  • Reporting and supervision experience (no direct reports at this time)
  • Remote work capability within the United States
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% within the U.S.

  • Experience managing consulting engagements with peer organizations and professional firms
  • Ability to identify and build a business case for new areas of innovation in funding and financing for resilient forest ecosystems
  • Experience conducting assessments of policy interventions at state and municipal levels
  • Experience presenting findings to diverse audiences and stakeholders
  • Strong data analysis, modeling, and visualization skills
  • Experience with water benefits accounting and corporate water stewardship
  • Proficiency in Excel for financial modeling
  • Experience in a consulting or project-based professional services environment
  • Experience with software platforms for project tracking and data management (e.g., Airtable, ArcGIS, Excel)
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Systems thinking approach to problem solving
  • Remote work capability within the United States
