Job Summary
Director, Data & Analytics Engineering leading a hands-on, Player-Coach data leadership team accountable for the warehouse, pipelines, and data models powering Charlie Health’s AI-first World Model. Own real-time signal graphs, event-driven data flows, and the semantic retrieval surfaces for transcripts and long-form artifacts. Define scalable Snowflake-based data model architecture, evolve 1,600+ dbt models, and partner with ML, Data Science, BizOps, Product, and Engineering to align data initiatives with company priorities. Drive end-to-end execution through sprint ceremonies and roadmap planning, mentor a growing team of Data and Analytics Engineers and a Data Engineering Manager, and ensure data reliability, governance, security (PHI/HITRUST), and cost-efficiency. Lead architecture decisions across Dagster, Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, Hightouch, Hex, Tableau; oversee KPI reporting, ad hoc analysis, and self-serve analytics; push for AI-ready data and agentic capabilities. Maintain a culture of high performance, inclusion, and measurable impact while operating with a hands-on approach to guide technical leadership and unblock the team.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of data or analytics engineering experience
- 4+ years managing and mentoring data and analytics engineers
- Hands-on background building and maintaining ELT pipelines using SQL, dbt, and OLAP databases like Snowflake
- Proficiency in Python (preferred) or another capable language
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools like Dagster, Airflow, or Prefect
- Skilled at building scalable reporting solutions in Tableau or Hex
- Strong data modeling, provenance, and governance skills
- Track record of improving team processes and delivering measurable impact
- Effective cross-functional collaboration with Machine Learning, Data Science, Product and Engineering
