Job Summary
Director, Crisis Communications at Bully Pulpit International leads strategic client work during high-stakes public challenges and reputational risk, guiding engagements from emergency response through post-crisis brand rebuilding. The role combines strategic advising with hands-on execution, excelling in fast-moving environments and distilling complex issues into clear narratives. Responsibilities include client leadership and advice, campaign strategy, and collaborative execution with data, digital media, and creative teams; rapid-response writing, direct media engagement, and strategic media relations; team management and mentorship; and business development responsibilities such as proposal writing and client growth. The ideal candidate blends agency and/or government experience and demonstrates a proven ability to manage multi-client deliverables, lead cross-functional teams, and produce polished client materials (memos, strategy decks, graphic reports).
Required Qualifications
- 8–10+ years in public affairs, PR, or strategic comms (agency + in-house or political background preferred).
- Master of AP Style; ability to pivot between creative storytelling and analytical strategic reporting.
- Proficiency in media monitoring software (Cision, Meltwater) and social media marketing platforms.
- Proven track record of managing multi-client deliverables, leading cross-functional teams with independence, and drafting quality, successful proposals.
- Ability to stay calm and provide "real-time" recommendations under high-pressure, tight-timeline scenarios.
- Understanding and appreciation for the 24-7 modern communications landscape, and the work ethic and ethos that requires.
- Excellent writing and verbal presentation skills are baseline requirements for this position.
