Job Summary
Define and maintain the 3-year roadmap for foundational manufacturing processes focusing on miniaturization, water-tightness, and high-density electronics. Establish core process modules that become the technical skeleton for all new product introductions, ensuring improvements propagate globally. Identify, develop, and protect proprietary manufacturing methods to secure competitive advantages in form factor, robustness, and reliability. Drive advanced epoxy molding, water-tightness, and best-in-class optical solutions for biosignal sensing while owning the strategy for ultra-miniaturized SMT and flexible PCB handling. Set global equipment standards and manage key vendor relationships to ensure core recipes are executed effectively. Deploy core experts into programs to support critical EVT/DVT/PVT phases and partner with Global Supply Chain to qualify factories for high-volume production. Maintain active technical visibility across Manufacturing leadership regarding current activities, future solutions, risks, and wins. Act as the technical anchor in portfolio and strategy discussions to influence investment in new capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years in high-volume Consumer Electronics, Wearables, Medical Devices or Semiconductors
- real boots on the ground experience solving molding or SMT yield/fallout on the factory floor
- Track record leading multi-disciplinary teams of senior and staff-level engineers
- Master's or PhD in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field
- equivalent deep practical expertise
- Experience owning strategic relationships with key equipment and process vendors
- guiding CMs to adopt and scale proprietary recipes
- Comfortable working across at least three timezones in a global organization
- Passion for moving an organization from project-specific solutions towards core technology platforms
