Job Summary
Develop the founders' public voice by ghostwriting essays, op-eds, and interview narratives while managing the editorial calendar for high-impact placements. Own the speaking pipeline, from sourcing and securing conferences to coaching executives for performance, and lead media strategy by managing the press agency and driving coverage with technical and enterprise buyers. Build and maintain owned social channels, coordinate crisis response plans, and execute coordinated narratives for major company launches. This in-person role at Exa's San Francisco HQ requires building credibility in the AI era, leveraging AI tools for research while ensuring authentic human expression.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years in communications, PR, or editorial roles
- time inside a high-growth technology company
- Exceptional writing craft, specifically ghostwriting
- A track record building an executive's public profile and social followers
- Real press results in technology or enterprise media
- Experience securing meaningful speaking placements and prepping people to perform in them
- Experience managing an agency well
- Sound judgment under pressure
- Experience handling at least one genuinely difficult public moment
- Enough technical literacy to write credibly about AI, search, and infrastructure
Desired Qualifications
- A journalism or editorial background
- Experience in AI, developer tools, or deep technology

- Analyst relations experience
- Experience building a comms function in-house from an agency-first setup
- Comfort producing beyond text: video, podcast, or event formats
