Job Summary
Director, Commercial Real Estate Loan Underwriting — Lead end-to-end CRE loan transactions (origination through closing and securitization when appropriate) for a multi-$billion financial institution. Serve as primary underwriting lead across origination, capital markets, legal and third-party providers; produce credit memos with clear risks, mitigants, and structuring rationale; conduct property-level diligence and market analysis; perform site inspections, broker interviews, and detailed local analysis; review third-party reports and ensure consistency with terms; build and edit Argus cash flow models; participate in presentations to syndication partners, investors, and rating agencies; collaborate across internal teams to resolve issues and maintain deal momentum; manage timelines and ensure sound credit outcomes across multiple CRE transactions across diverse asset types in the US.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS in commercial real estate finance, finance or similar
- At least 7 years’ experience underwriting commercial real estate loans at a bank, insurance company, debt fund, investment management company or similar
- Demonstrated experience independently leading CRE loan transactions from origination through closing
- Experience structuring CRE loans and risk mitigation tools
- Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
- Ability to lead discussions with syndication partners, investors and rating agencies
