Job Summary
Director, Charter Schools assists in leading the Charter School Department, supervises the application, monitoring and maintenance of charter options including charter schools and state-mandated private and public school choice programs. Oversees staff recruitment, supervision, training, and evaluation; provides oversight for all Charter School programs; communicates policies to the public; conducts site visits and reviews; oversees application, implementation, and evaluation for charter programs; develops and manages budgets and oversees distribution of district and federal funds for charter schools; ensures compliance with laws and regulations related to charter schools; supports magnet, choice, and charter school initiatives; and manages grant activities and reporting.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university
- Four (4) years successful supervisory or administrative experience at the school or central office with increasing levels of responsibility
- Knowledge of school board policies; state and federal laws related to school choice options and pupil assignment; curriculum development; and current trend in charter school design and implementation
- Must have grant management background
- Certification: Florida Department of Education
