Job Summary
Lead the Centre for Microscopy and Microanalysis by providing strategic and academic leadership for a premier collaborative research facility. Oversee world-leading microscopy and microanalysis platforms, guide major infrastructure investment, and foster interdisciplinary collaboration across materials science, engineering, life sciences, and quantum technologies. Champion research excellence, develop new funding opportunities, and strengthen partnerships with academia, government, and industry to ensure the Centre delivers outstanding scientific capability and education. This role requires a PhD with an internationally recognised research profile and a strong track record securing competitive research funding. Applications close on Sunday 30th August 2026.
Required Qualifications
- A PhD (or equivalent)
- An internationally recognised research profile in Science, Engineering or a closely aligned discipline
- A strong track record leading complex research infrastructure, scientific facilities or major collaborative research environments
- Demonstrated success securing significant competitive research funding and developing strategic investment opportunities
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships across universities, research organisations, government and industry
- Outstanding strategic leadership, financial management and organisational capability
- A collaborative and inclusive leadership style with experience developing high-performing multidisciplinary teams
- The ability to translate scientific capability into research impact, innovation and long-term institutional value
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and advocacy skills with a strong commitment to research excellence and collaboration
