Job Summary
Director to lead catalog quality and audit operations across a scraper-populated catalog spanning a large brand portfolio. Own a 400+ person organization with multi-layer management; accountable for operational rigor and ground-truth measurement systems governing catalog quality. Partner with Operations, Product, Engineering and senior leadership to convert data quality signals into upstream improvements; defend sampling design and precision/recall trade-offs to senior leadership; build managers of managers and codify operational tenets for long-term governance. Responsibilities include end-to-end catalog audit design (MPN validation, duplicate detection, attribute correctness), defining metrics (precision, recall, F1) and AQL thresholds, leading brand-stratified sampling with finite population correction, driving ground-truth resolution before launch, and cross-functional partnership to translate operational signals into engineering priorities. Also oversee a 400+ person organization through 4–7 Senior Manager direct reports, build the management bench, succession planning, capacity planning, and developer senior managers, with data-driven planning across geographies and vendor partners; represent Catalog Ops in senior leadership reviews and drive alignment with engineering roadmaps.
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of operations experience
- 7+ years managing managers
- 3+ years leading large organizations (200+ staff)
- Demonstrated ownership of large-scale data-quality/catalog programs in ecommerce/marketplace
- Experience with statistical sampling and data-quality methodologies (AQL, c=0, precision/recall, finite population correction)
- Ability to produce structured documentation for senior leadership (tenets, rationale memos, audit frameworks)
- Strong PRD discipline and ability to specify requirements without engineering ownership
- Experience scaling teams across geographies and vendor partners
- Background in scraper-populated or third-party catalogs (preferred)
- Experience with audit design, duplicate detection, taxonomy or attribute extraction (preferred)
- Familiarity with quality-management standards (ISO 2859, ANSI Z1.4)
- SQL or lightweight scripting fluency for ad-hoc audit/analysis
