Job Summary
Director, Business Development to build and lead the fundraising and sales function for Team Rubicon, identifying, qualifying, and closing new partnerships with corporate partners, foundations, and major donors. Own the full sales cycle from prospecting through closing while designing scalable processes and CRM-enabled workflows to enable seamless handoffs to Strategic Partnerships and Institutional Giving teams. Build and lead a high-performing BD team from the ground up, combining hunter and farmer mindsets, and drive revenue growth through strategic partnerships, stakeholder management, and data-driven performance metrics. Remote within the United States, with at least 30% travel. Requires 8+ years of nonprofit fundraising and business development leadership, strong negotiation and contract-management skills, and the ability to build teams, processes, and culture in fast-paced environments. Bachelor’s degree required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, nonprofit management, sales, or related field (or equivalent professional experience demonstrating required competencies)
- 8+ years of nonprofit fundraising and business development leadership experience in fast-paced environments
- Proven track record building and scaling teams from the ground up with minimal existing framework while establishing culture and accountability
- Experience designing sales processes and systems that enable repeatable revenue generation and team scalability leveraging technology wherever possible
- Demonstrated success managing full sales cycles - prospecting through closing with corporate, foundation, and major donor prospects
- Hunter mentality comfortable closing deals personally while building processes and developing others
- Strong negotiation, contract management, and project management skills with ability to navigate complex partnership agreements of various priority and timeline
- Customer relationship management (CRM) and pipeline management expertise with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce or equivalent systems
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills with C-suite and senior decision-makers
- Special Requirements: This is a full-time; REMOTE position and can be based anywhere within the United States and provides a flexible & non-traditional work schedule (no relocation expenses provided)
- Travel: At least 30% travel for site visits, conferences, and donor meetings
