Job Summary
Director of Aircraft Systems provides strategic and technical leadership across AeroTEC’s aircraft systems engineering disciplines (Mechanical Systems, Avionics Systems, Electrical Power Systems, EWIS). Responsible for systems integration, certification rigor, and engineering quality across complex cross-functional programs. Leads a multi-disciplinary team of managers, group leads, and principal engineers; owns resource deployment, EVM oversight, proposal development, and customer interactions. Requires senior-level aerospace engineering experience, proven leadership in certification programs, and ability to drive architectural direction, governance, and scalable processes across mechanical, avionics, and EWIS domains.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline
- 15+ years of progressive aerospace engineering experience across aircraft systems disciplines
- minimum of 5 years in a leadership role managing engineering teams or functions
- Extensive direct experience in at least two of: mechanical systems, electrical or avionics systems design and integration, or EWIS design and certification
- Demonstrated experience leading aircraft systems certification efforts with DERs and regulatory compliance (FAA, EASA, Transport Canada); FAR/CS Part 25 experience preferred
- STC, ATC and/or TC program experience strongly preferred; experience with both new design and retrofit programs
- Experience with Earned Value Management on aerospace programs; experience with external contractors and suppliers preferred
- Physical travel requirements (25%), ability to sit/stand/vision requirements as described in posting
- Export control compliance requirement: U.S. Person definition per 22 C.F.R. 120.15
