Directional Drill Operator

Job Summary
Operate directional drill rigs and related equipment to install underground utilities (electric, gas, telecommunications); read and interpret utility plans and job-site blueprints; supervise and lead a crew of 2–3 team members; coordinate with utility locators to identify existing underground utilities; monitor bore path and adjust drilling for proper alignment and depth; perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs; ensure safety protocol compliance and maintain project records. Requires minimum 3 years of directional drilling experience, strong understanding of underground utility construction methods, and ability to travel to various job sites; valid driver's license, and ability to pass pre-employment drug test and background check.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience operating directional drilling equipment (e.g., Vermeer or Ditch Witch)
- Strong understanding of underground utility construction methods and best practices
- Prior leadership or foreman experience preferred
- Valid driver’s license with satisfactory DMV record
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions and travel to different job sites as required
