Job Summary
Operate and maintain directional drilling equipment, including Vermeer and Ditch Witch units, alongside vac trucks, mud trucks, excavators, and dump trucks. Execute drilling in standard and high-risk areas such as zones with live utilities while strictly adhering to safety policies, MSHA, and OSHA training requirements. Read blueprints, identify marked utilities, and maintain basic computer skills to develop bore logs. Perform routine service maintenance on all assets, ensuring proper fluid checks, tire pressure, and grease, while organizing materials and resources for excavation tasks. Requires a valid Utah Class A CDL, one year of directional drilling experience, and strong math skills.
Required Qualifications
- Experience, minimum 1 year, operating a directional drill (Vermeer and/or Ditch Witch)
- Experience drilling in both standard and high-risk areas, such as areas with live utilities
- Knowledge of utility depths and placement
- General knowledge of construction practices
- Familiarity with equipment, including routine service and maintenance
- Ability to read blueprints
- Familiarity with Blue Stakes and the identification of marked utilities
- Basic computer skills in order to develop and maintain bore logs
- Great math skills
- Ability to organize material and other resources to complete excavation requirements
- Valid Utah Class A CDL License with no restrictions
- Clean driving record
- Pass a background check
