Job Summary
Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) provide person-centered support to individuals with developmental disabilities in Suffolk County. Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities (bathing, dressing, hygiene), helping build independence and life skills, assisting with cooking, cleaning, mobility and transportation to appointments and community outings, maintaining a safe and respectful environment, and completing documentation per OPWDD guidelines. Earn $18.50–$20.72 per hour with a $500 sign-on bonus, 100% paid health insurance for full-time, paid training with no experience needed, flexible schedules (days, nights, weekends), 403(b), PTO/holidays, and opportunities for growth. Training provided; interviews scheduled quickly. Physical demands and potential exposure to various environments are noted, with mandatory trainings and certifications required during probationary periods.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
- Valid NYS Driver’s License (preferred)
- OPWDD Medication Administration (AMAP) course
- SCIP course
- First Aid
- Driver’s Training
- CPR
- Residential Performance Standards Certification
- Criminal background check
- New York State Child Abuse Registry clearance
- Medicaid Fraud Prevention and Detection Database clearance
- Completion of Agency Orientation and Residential Training programs
- Submit to background checks and consistent certifications as required
