Direct Support Technician

Job Summary
Provide one-on-one care to youth and young adults when primary caregivers are unavailable, ensuring their safety and well-being. Assist with daily living activities including personal hygiene, ambulation, and household tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and running errands. Offer emotional support, promote mental alertness through engaging activities, and instruct clients on hygiene, nutrition, and utilities. Maintain records of client progress and services, reporting changes to supervisors. Participate in case reviews, attend required in-service training, and adhere to agency policies. Requires a valid driver's license, automobile, and proof of car insurance.
Required Qualifications
- Must possess a strong service orientation
- Active listening skills
- Critical thinking skills
- Close monitoring of clients
- Minimum of three references
- Must have an automobile
- Valid driver's license
- Proof of car insurance
- Must pass a criminal background check including fingerprinting
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
- Must be able to perform prolonged periods of standing, bending and lifting
