Job Summary
Direct Support Staff (Home Care) provides Recovery Assistant services to participants in their homes and in community settings, including meal planning and preparation, housekeeping, personal care, safe medication use, and facilitating engagement in family, social, and recreational activities. Duties include assisting or cueing participants to perform routine tasks, use community supports, participate in waiver Recovery Plan activities, and escort participants to necessary appointments. Role requires interacting with participants to promote independent participation, employing supportive and problem-solving approaches, and traveling with participants when engaged in waiver activities. Qualifications include being 18+, a high school diploma or GED, a valid CT driver’s license or state ID, DMHAS Recovery Assistant training, and a recent criminal background check. The position may require varied hours and local travel in New London, CT, with a focus on compassionate home-based support and community reintegration.
Required Qualifications
- Be at least 18 years old
- Possess at least a high school diploma or GED
- Possess a valid Connecticut driver's license or state-issued identification and be registered with DMHAS as having completed an approved Recovery Assistant training program
- Criminal Background check conducted within six months of application and meet any continuing education and/or training requirements set by DMHAS
